Anouk celebrated her first Christmas Eve by going on a backpack ride in Muir Woods and unwrapping gifts. We got a used backpack carrier from one of Sabine's co-workers, and she really enjoys it. It is also very comfortable for me, since it is set up like a regular backpack. We hiked along the giants Redwoods in Muir Woods and then up the hill towards Mt. Tam. It was fairly cold (about 10C/50F), so we had to dress her warmly:
We passed by a lot of streams and small waterfalls, and enjoyed the quiet of the forest.
After a few hours, Anouk finally counted all the trees and could comfortably fall asleep....
We finally made it to the sunny side and enjoyed a nice break with snacks:
After we got home, it was time to unwrap Delia's and Miles' gifts, which was a lot of fun:
Merry Christmas to all, and a safe and healthy 2010!

Anouk in Mexico
We have finally settled into our daily routine, so I am posting the first pictures of our 2 week trip to Mexico. It was our first trip to Latin America, and we really enjoyed it. People were extremely friendly, and even though communication was not always easy, we got around. Everybody loved
the white baby with the blue eyes, which made traveling really enjoyable. Anouk did great on most of the flights, and she enjoyed the new surroundings. She travelled well, which we had hoped for. She also got her first tooth, which was really exciting. All of a sudden, there was something sharp in her mouth, very cool. She has been gnawing on everything, and continues to do so, but now we need to be careful, since she can destroy little items like the safety card in the plane within minutes.....
I will post more pictures later on, but here are some from Anouk travelling, random shots:
Breast-feeding and drinking in front of Chichen Itza's pyramid, one of my favorites :-)
Enjoying the sunset in Cozumel
Eating shoestring for dinner....
Chilling in the babybjoern...
Happy dinner
Straw fight with daddy
"Love those carrots..."
"love that spoon..."
Swimming after a hot day in Merida
Enjoying the lovely bath robe after the swim
Hanging out at the beach in Progresso
"Where are you guys sleeping tonight?"
One of the hundreds of locals who wanted to keep her
To be continued.....

Halloween
Yesterday was Halloween, and we bought a great outfit for little Anouk, she wanted to be a moose..... Sabine went to a nice celebration at the Rec Center on Friday, together with Miles and Gary and Delia:
We took her out the next day too, and she enjoyed the nice comfort of her warm outfit:
Last week, Lynnda, my friend from high school was in town for a conference, and we spent some time in the Park with her family:
We also went to the playground with Miles, Jen and Gary, and we'll be spending some more time there in the future I am sure....
And we hung out at the Malones with her friend Oliver:
