Canada Part 2

As I am sure you have looked at the previous pictures by now, it is time to post the second session. We started out in Lake Louise and realized that, unlike California, it can rain in the summer.... The lake is amazing, bright turquoise, with the Victoria Glacier in the background. A beautiful setting, and therefore extremely popular:

Due to mother grizzlies that are present in the area, they have a campground surrounded by an electrical fence for tents, and a separate one for RVs. We decided to stay with Sabine's parents, so we spent 2 nights in our minivan converted to sleep cabin. Anouk enjoyed walking around in our new "house"; sleeping was OK, but not ideal...

The next day, we drove to Yoho National Park and stopped by Takakaw Falls:

Also in Yoho Park was Emerald Lake, named after the color of the lake:

We went on a short hike to a small waterfall:

The next stop was Moraine Lake, the other popular lake in the Lake Louise area:

Grandpa was very proudly walking with his granddaughter:

Anouk loved the campgrounds, she could run around the RV, play with sticks and plants, and read her books at random locations:

Here are some typical Canada pictures: endless roads, beautiful lakes, mountain ranges:

Crawling around in the RV was also very fascinating to Anouk, pretending the drive the 30 footer....
And as always, we came across a "bear-jam": a complete traffic collapse because of a bear along the side of the road. In this case, the people got out of the car and were a little too close for comfort, but we took a shot (from inside our car) and headed on:

More to come next week!

Canada

Lots of visitors and trips later, finally getting time to upload some pictures. We went to the Canadian Rockies to meet up with Sabine's parents and their friends Doris and Werner. They were RVing it, while we camped in our newly purchased 3person tent most of the nights. Here are some impressions: the mountains were AMAZING, especially with the changing weather patterns.

Videos

Anouk has started to move around a lot, so videos seem more appropriate.... Here she is jamming to Warren G while eating pasta bolognese; multi-tasking is a skill learned at a young age:

She also took her first real walk around the kitchen, which was very exciting:

Sea otters and seals

We went to Point Lobos yesterday to see some marine wildlife. It was a gorgeous day, we have never seen this park south of Carmel with sunshine. Here are some highlights, the coast is magnificent, very wild and full of animals.

We had lunch on the gravel beach, and were very close to some seals chilling on the rocks nearby:

Along the trail, we came across the local hangout for the sea otters. They were cuddling in a large group hiding in the kelp, cleaning and eating, they are extremely cute with their round faces.

On a secluded beach, we noticed a bunch of seals enjoying the sun:

After the hike, we went to the beach in Carmel to play in the white sands and stare at all the mansions lined up on the coast. Anouk enjoyed the sand.
